These gentle giants are the ideal dog breed, and your new best friend.
This is a Leonberger.
They're a massive dog breed from Germany.
These fluffy beasts are a cross between a Newfoundland, St. Bernard, and a Pyrenean Mountain Dog.
According to legend, they were bred to look like the lion featured on the crest of their hometown, Lionberg, Germany.
But these guys are way more cuddly and lovable than your average lion.
The world wars depleted the Leonberger population drastically. After World War II, only eight were left.
All of the living Leonbergers are descendants of those eight dogs, which means that they're super inbred.
But for a good snuggle, they can't be beat!
Even though they're positively huge (the males grow up to 170 pounds!), these dogs are really gentle giants.
They're great with kids!
And their two coats of fur make them great rescue dogs (and sledding buddies)!
Oh, and did I mention that they're HUGE?
It's hard to imagine that anything could be so majestic and adorable at the same time.
If you like big, fluffy, friendly dogs (and honestly, who doesn't?) then the Leonberger might just be the perfect dog for you.
